Heimat: Podcast series

Podcast about people on the run and what a child experiences when they leave everything behind. How it feels on departure, arrival and so many years later. What uncertainty, a different language and a new culture do to a child.

Heimat is a podcast by Julie Weyne about and with Alja. In 2000 Alja moved from Kaliningrad to Ghent at the age of ten. After 22 years, she is still looking for answers. About migration, her journey in Belgium, the Russia she left behind, the search for a home.

In addition to the conversation, experts such as VRT journalist Jan Balliauw, professor Ilse Derluyn and lawyer Benoit Dhondt will also be included.

Heimat is a Julie Weyne production. The music is by Olga Mentchik and Evelien Dockx took care of the sound design.
