Zappa: Lesson Idea

In this third lesson sheet you will find material for working on free collective improvisation within art education. The file is divided into several parts:

  1. The lesson sheet consists of an introduction to two film fragments, after which the class takes up the role of orchestra and the teacher takes on the role of conductor, after which the students improvise in a game around question and answer. Improvisation based on an already known rhythmic substructure is also discussed.
  2. In addition to the structure of the lesson content, you will also find the goals.

This lesson sheet was created within the research Improvisation for all! : How do students experience collective free improvisation in compulsory education .
