Discover Pi

With this material, students discover the number pi themselves.

The class is divided into six groups, each of which receives a card with a circle. They measure the circumference and diameter of the circle and divide the circumference by the diameter. The results of the different circles are noted on the board.

The students now see that the ratio between circumference and diameter is always approximately the same. From here we proceed to the formula for the circumference of a circle.

The presentation also contains some facts and a short quiz about the number pi.
