Author residencies at school: Inspiration guide
Since the end of 2021, Literature Flanders has been coordinating a multi-year pilot program for author residencies in secondary education. An author spends a semester in a school working with students on reading and writing. Previous research has already shown that writing with difficult or non-readers also strengthens general reading skills. Creative writing can therefore indirectly promote reading.
This inspiration guide is sent to authors who are starting an author residency, but can easily also be used by teachers. You choose one of the five end products to work towards with your class, and follow the associated steps and exercises. You are completely free to delete or add exercises yourself.
