Full Language. Didactics of Dutch for the first and second stage of secondary education.

Voluit taal is a Dutch didactic manual in which scientific insights about contemporary, challenging and language-rich education are concretely translated into practice on the basis of seven didactic principles.

Voluit Taal is the sequel to the Volop Taal handbook. The CTO once again joined forces with other experts in the field. Together with the editor-in-chief of the magazine Fons, the CTO was responsible for the substantive coordination of the book. Six teachers from different Flemish teacher training programs contributed to the chapters in part 2.

The result is a Dutch didactics manual with concrete guidelines for achieving inclusive, integrated and effective Dutch language education. This book is therefore more than just a vision on language education. It aims to inspire and stimulate every (future) teacher, but also to arm and support. It is a working tool for every teacher and teacher educator (to be) who wants to focus on language-rich education. As a follow-up to Volop Taal , the book also nicely shows how the learning line for language can be continued seamlessly after primary education, taking into account the physical, emotional and cognitive changes that teenagers go through and their changed interests and environment.

Part 1 translates scientific insights about contemporary, challenging and language-rich education into seven didactic principles, which form the common thread of the book. Any teacher can use these principles, both in Dutch lessons and in other subjects.
In part 2, the principles are elaborated in practical stories and you can read how to apply them in your (language) education. You can read how they are created in powerful listening and viewing, speaking, reading and writing education, but also in literature classes. The authors focus on word acquisition, linguistics, and language and technology. The broad evaluation of multilingualism and language competences is also discussed here.
Part 3 helps you to look critically at your own approach and at all kinds of learning resources, such as with pointers for different aspects of language education.

The book originated from a collaboration with teachers from various Flemish teacher training courses and with the editor-in-chief of the magazine Fons. The authors combined their didactic expertise to write this book. OWL Press published it.
