The Wase Archeology Case

The Wase Archeology Case contains archaeological finds (or ensembles) from the Stone Age to the Middle Ages. These finds are connected to excavations in the Waasland and provide students with insights into politics, religion, economics and social organization through time (from prehistory to the Middle Ages).

The message of the suitcase is: whatever profession you have today, archeology can inspire you. Students can choose from a selection of six challenging professions: architect, dietician, financial analyst, fashion designer, strategic advisor or religious teacher.

As experts, they are confronted with a current challenge or problem. In their search for solutions, they do not follow well-trodden paths, but delve into the past to find inspiration.

The finds and archaeological research results that we provide to them provide insight into various domains of past societies, in political, social, religious and economic areas. With these new insights, students can tackle challenges or problems in their professional activities. In this way, archaeological research results create special added value for current professionals.

Thanks to the support of the province of East Flanders, Erfpunt was able to realize the suitcase.
