Philosophical celebrations: Learning route through Brussels

With this learning route you can introduce the students to different philosophies of life in Brussels on the basis of the theme of parties.

The pupils discover the celebrations from the Roman Catholic religion, liberal humanism, Islam, Judaism and the Protestant religion at specific philosophical locations in Brussels through various working methods and creative games. In this way, the students get to know their own and other worldviews better and they can articulate the differences and similarities between them. They also learn to listen empathetically, respectfully and openly to others.

The learning route takes about three hours and has a fixed structure. At each designated philosophical location (the church, the humanistic non-profit organization, the mosque, the synagogue, the Protestant church), the students receive a short introduction to the ideological philosophy and its celebrations. This can be done on the basis of questions, explanations or images. After this, the students are given an assignment on this subject in class or in groups, on the spot. When this assignment is completed, they receive a hint in the form of a rebus, a word search, ... that gives them the next location of the walk. There is also a general assignment about Brussels throughout the walk. At the end of the walk there is a final assignment.
