Peace education: Book on teaching practice

People from all over the world have waged war and quarreled. Fortunately, that is only one side of the coin. People of all times and places have also made peace with each other. People have a lot of experience in making peace. That sounds crazy, especially when we consider that there are now more than thirty major wars and armed conflicts in the world. Yet it is so.

People can learn peace. We can talk endlessly about it and try to catch it in definitions, but we have to do it in the children we teach in the end. We want to create an environment in which children come into their own, in which they can develop and in which they learn to live together.

In this book the goals, means, opportunities, pitfalls and challenges of peace education are listed and described from practice. Attention is paid to dealing with prejudices, bullying, conflicts, senseless violence and learning the history of the Second World War. Experience stories and concrete working methods for the group, make this publication a user book for everyone who wants to work on sustainable peace with children and young people.
