Translucent insects: Teaching idea about additive color system or RGB

In this teaching material, students make insects out of black paper using colored and translucent plastic. This gives a nice effect if you hang them against the window and the sunlight comes through.

With this assignment you teach students to work with light and dark. It is ideal for explaining the RGB color system. RGB stands for Red, Green and Blue. These are the three main colors of the additive color system. Have students layer colors on top of each other to see which new color you create.
