Sleutelcompetentie: cultureel bewustzijn
De eerste bouwsteen die onder deze sleutelcompetentie valt, is ‘uitingen van kunst en cultuur waarnemen en conceptualiseren’. Daarin worden hulpmiddelen aangereikt zoals zintuigelijk waarneembare kenmerken, onderwerpen en bedoelingen van kunst- en cultuuruitingen. Op die manier kunnen leerlingen hun waarneming van kunst en cultuur verdiepen.
Kunst en cultuur beleven
De tweede bouwsteen beoogt dat leerlingen een mondiale blik op kunst en cultuur doorheen de tijd krijgen en aandacht hebben voor de hedendaagse culturele diversiteit. Kunst- en cultuuruitingen hebben een socialiserende rol: ze helpen je te oriënteren in maatschappelijke, historische en geografische contexten.
Het kenmerkende van cultuur zit in de betekenis die mensen aan hun ontmoeting met kunst- en cultuuruitingen geven. Omgaan met kunst en cultuur wordt daarom vooral gezien als een proces van omgaan met, interpreteren van en waarderen van de innerlijke en de omringende wereld. Daarbij gaat het om waarde hechten aan kunst- en cultuuruitingen, ze evalueren en er een eigen appreciatie of depreciatie over uitspreken.
Culturele expressie
De waardering voor kunst- en cultuuruitingen kan op verschillende manieren geuit worden, zowel talig als expressief. Door zelf een artistiek creatieproces te doorlopen kan de waardering voor de expressies van anderen genuanceerder beargumenteerd worden. Deze doelstellingen staan voorop bij de eindtermen onder de derde bouwsteen.
Culturele expressie komt aan bod in een inhoudelijke bouwsteen ‘verbeelding gericht inzetten bij het creëren van artistiek werk’. De wederkerige verbinding en beïnvloeding tussen kennis, gevoel en lichaamservaring zijn kenmerkend voor creatieve processen. Het bewust beleven van die interactie tussen lichaam, gevoel en kennis tijdens het creëren draagt bij aan de persoonlijke ontplooiing.
Toonmoment in de klas
Een belangrijk sluitstuk in het artistiek creatieproces is het tonen van werk aan een publiek. Het is niet noodzakelijk dat leerlingen alle werken die ze creëerden ook daadwerkelijk tonen.
Hoe het publiek is samengesteld is de verantwoordelijkheid van de leraar die inschat hoe veilig of uitdagend het is voor de leerling om eigen werk te tonen. Wel is het de bedoeling dat de leerlingen een aantal presentatietechnieken en codes van het (zich) tonen leren gebruiken.
